Values In Mind Therapy

Marianne Payne, LCSW-C

It’s a remarkable thing ~ to know your worth and to live life according to your values.

You belong here!

I believe that an individual’s potential for growth, change and personal insight is limitless. In a supportive and encouraging therapeutic space, we can begin to explore long-standing patterns of thought and behavior that may be limiting our growth or sense of safety in the world.

My goal is to create an affirming space where people of all backgrounds and identities feel seen, heard, and respected. This includes individuals of all races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities, abilities, immigration statuses, and religious beliefs. I strive to meet each client with openness, cultural humility, and a deep respect for their unique experiences.

This practice is rooted in respect, equity, and dignity for all people. I am committed to fostering an environment that upholds these values and actively works against all forms of oppression and discrimination.

Working with me looks like…

The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors that contributes to an individual’s feeling of accomplishment and success in therapy. Together, we will identify areas of change that feel important and work together to develop goals that align with your values and vision for yourself.

My practice focuses on helping individual adults (18 +) who are facing a range of challenges – including major life changes/transitions, relationship concerns, familial/parenting stressors, self-worth/esteem, addiction/self-destructive behaviors, chronic illness, grief, depression, and anxiety.

I approach psychotherapy as a collaborative process and most often use an integration of evidence-based treatment modalities including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing (MI), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT).

I am a licensed clinical social worker with nearly a decade of experience. My early career was rooted in medical social work, where I supported individuals and families navigating chronic illness, end-of-life care, and the many emotional and practical challenges that can accompany these experiences. I later joined a group therapy practice where I focused on the care of adult clients seeking help with life transitions, grief, depression and anxiety related disorders. My previous endeavors continue to inform the compassion and perspective I bring to my therapy practice today.

I believe in ongoing growth—both professionally and personally—and regularly engage in learning opportunities that deepen my understanding of the ways mental health is shaped by the intersection of physical health, societal and environmental influences, and family history. I’m drawn to the complexity of human experience and feel honored to support clients in exploring theirs.

Family, friends and colleagues describe me as warm, spirited, and sincere. I am an advocate for social justice, equity, and support for each person’s potential to grow and thrive. These values guide my work as a therapist, where I strive to create a thoughtful, grounded space in which you can feel seen, heard, and supported.

Outside of my work, I enjoy staying active through movement of all kinds, reading, podcasts, thrifting and time outdoors. I’m a lover of house plants, coffee and ethnic cuisines. I value time and experiences with my loved ones and equally time in restorative solitude.
